Recommended Odometers
Hi Team.
I pulled my old speedometer and tachometer out form my Haines and want to know what type of new odometers I should be using with bigger resoultion/incremental size of speed (in km/hr and/or knts) and up to 4000RPM?
What other instruments should I be using also?
PS - I already have the GPS/sounder that can give me speed..

Hi Billy,
I like a temperature gauge, water pressure gauge, and a zero center Amp meter.
I wouldn't worry about a speedo, if you have a gps.

Yeah Tacho is good, but really you only use it to see max rev's at WOT.
And compare that to what it use to do or should do, then use it for your best cruise setting, and then see if your idling is about right.
Yeah okay it's pretty esential.
As for brands I don't know, But I would be happy with the ones at BIAS or other boating places, there resonably priced as well.

G'day
Just a thought, why would you want a tacho with max revs at 4000? Woiuldn't 6000 be more suitable?
VDO make good gauges, I imagine they do marine ones aswell.

Thanks boys.
I am after instruments with big increments - what max RPM should I see written on the tacho?

Billy my Tach, reads up to 7000 Rpm, but at best she will do 5300 Rpm light.
And calm waters otherwise my boat will break, infact I think I might of.
