hi all i dont profess to be an expert on catching reddies but some of my success is as follows
reddies tend to hit herring with more enthusiasm than mullet but i will use what ever is available. anything between three and five inches is what i find works best
as cuzzamundi suggested i also cut the fins to slow the bait down and give out more of the distressed signal. i use between a three O and 4 O size hook generally mustad big gun or gamakatsu octopus. i will always use steel leader and dont find they shy away (40 pound) small sinker dependent on current. i have tried many a method for hook placment and have never failed with through the back in between the head and fin region. with all these in place i generally am succesfull 90% of the time. all of this info is very dependant on your area but my small gold coast estuary never fails to provide. i hope this helps your hunt
