    ancient fishing reel

    Does anyone no anything about the fishing rell brand ALPHA i got it from my grandpa so i no its fairly old its got rachet no drag looks like a old small alvey but its not side cast soo maybe its a old fly reel?

    Sounds like a classic old centerpin reel used by most of the old fella's in the days before sidecasts etc.

    Cool fishing reel

    Hey mate i have one here on my desk as wellit is about3 inch spool it is made of reddy brown bakerlite i think i have had it for years i have always wondered what it was for hopefully someone here will know i will se if i can post a pic in the next couple of days it has alpha on the spool and on the back in the middle it has a small coat of arms thing that says the alpha W trade mark is this the same as yours mate....

    Alpha are an old Aus reel manufacturing company, who made small sidecasts and centerpin reels. but not for fly use. I have a feeling they were out competed by the Alveys.

    its just like the one blue fin described its a great looking old reel.does any one have a date on how old it could possibly be?

    I believe they were made back in the sixties for Luderick or as they were know then by their N word

    hi guys, i have an old Alpha side cast, it's 4" in diameter, has a ratchet noise that you can turn on and off, and is made from dark brown bakerlite
