Kingtin, when you finally do catch a jack, you'll relise their qualities and why a lot of people release them.

I'm sure I will mate, but I won't criticise those who's opinion differs, as long as they act legally. That said, with my fishing capabilities, I probably won't get the chance to make the choice

Gday Kev i have just camped at that park, very beautiful did'nt catch a keeper as we were fishing from the bank but saw a jack hitting bait right at the waters edge. A lot of skiers on that stretch and plenty of boats up closer to the mouth maybe up river would be the go but at easter it's gonna be busy. Good luck, good view if nothing else.

    Dave.
    Avast ye matey!

Thanks mate. Yeah, the view is great and I can't wait to get down there. I don't mind if I don't catch as I'll only be sharking from the bank at night and out in the tinny during the day. It just seems like such a nice place to be and fishing is a bonus. I'm told that the fish are pretty savvy at the campsite and even though the stonker bream I saw were taking shredded cheese, they wouldn't look at a piece with a hook in it

Irrespective of their characteristics they are commonly caught and are a great table fish, as long as people only take for their immediate consumption within the legal requirements what's the problem?

chalkandcheese, i have caught hundreds of jacks and released all but the 4 in the photo. two of which were given to my mate fishing with me, and all four were eaten. trust me i let em go to fight another day. i normally keep a trevally for the table.

Gday Kev, thats a nice spot you have there however unfortunatly there is a lot of traffic going through there, especially skiers. If you find it too much try the terranora arm of the river, there are a few jack spots through there but will also fish very well or flathead ect.
    Good luck with the trip.

    cheers Jono
