Down Gungulla, you can drop onto the beach and head up to Salmon creek.
Insulator creek, head into Crystal creek follow the road down and head left along past the huts, then drop onto the beach, at high tide a soft sand track takes you along the beach.
The Toomulla to Balgal strip is getting some attention from the local force as there have been LOTS of residents complaints registered. The creeks have completely washed out the beach so probably not a great spot at the moment anyway.
no permits required - I don't think any beaches in NQ req permits - you just do it if you can (if it's accepted). I didn't mean the main toomulla beach - there is a beach that you can get to (bit hard to find).
No permits required cause it's legally a grey area. EPA owns the dunes which they don't like being disturbed, the council administers the foreshore on behalf of several agencies and below high tide GBRMPA has juristiction. The local boys in blue and rangers are trying to deal with this but at the very least they can make your day unpleasant. See http://www.thuringowa.qld.gov.au/new...m?media_id=884
Plenty drive on the beaches anyway. If you get caught, be very nice as they may only warn you and take your number. Some motor bikes were recently siezed cause they were a nuisance. Camping on the beach just north of Toomulla has become increasing popular and they are leaving a big mess (rubbish and tearing up the dunes - idiots spoiling it for everyone) which has come to the attention of the EPA. They will step up patrols.
