Its funny how, a few years ago, a work freind was updating her chest freezer, and asked if I wanted the old one? I carton of beer as payment later, I convinced my wife we needed a chest freezer, mainly because I always came home with unused bait, and there was an increasing amount of resistance growing in the house, because everything started to smell and taste a bit fishy as I was sharing the normal freezer compartment of the fridge. Suffice it to say I won the right to grab the old freezer offered, and start using it as a bait freezer.
Then three things happened.....
My good wife seemed to enjoy finding specials at the butchers, coming home with whole blade, roasts, hams and an assortment of tupperware containers containing "quick meals" started taking over what had previously been designated the Bait Compartment in the aquired old freezer.
The 2nd thing to happen was my mother decided her new chest freezer of equal size, was too much effort reaching into, and she wanted an upright with a door and shelves. She offered her Chest freezer, which was still under warranty, to us...
So now you would think I had it all sussed? Noop, I have not used bait for the last 3 years.......being a 100% plastics convert. So all the 2nds bait has just been stripped out of the freezer, giving me about 50% more space in there...
It's all in a 50 ltr Esky, still frozen until Bin day on tuesday... Seems a shame to throw it away, if anyone wants it for free, I am sure the old prawns, mullet and chicken gut, a few old pilles, and other stuff I can't recognise would be good burley...
I wonder if anyone else has a big stash of unused frozen baits in the bottom of their houshold freezer? Take it from me, you win a few brownie points cleaning it out every once in a while!!!
