G'Day Bender, Lake Samsonvale (North Pine) is stocked with a lot of Bass, Yellowbelly, Silver Perch, Saratoga, Mary River Cod. There are also Snub Nose Gar, Spangled Perch, Eel Tailed Catfish and of course the noxious species Tilarpia.
Start off where you have mentioned and work your way slowly along the bank, keep your eye on orther fisherman and watch what they do if they are catching fish, ie: retrieve style, choice on lure and so on.
Probably the best choice of lure would be a Jackal or one of its copies but other lures do work but don't seem to get as many fish as the Jackals.
Good Luck.

Bender,
Another good spot to try, with similar deep water is the southern side of the dam wall, the same deep water and if the SE are blowing you are sheltered from the wind. It is just a longer walk in, don't try and take any short cuts as the rangers won't be happy.

If you work the deep water near the concrete/spill gates of the dam the water is deep there. It is one of those places that produces fish most of the time. Same postion on the southern side is a good place as well.

Is it a hard walk to get to the south side?

No there is a parking area near the rangers office and Bullocky Rest. Just park there walk down to the waters edge and walk around to the wall.

About half way round put your sunnies on backwards, the plovers might still be nesting.
