    Hi Troy

What do you want to do with the batteries?
I think your answer to that will determine what battery type (s) to use.
Battery World and the other battery mobs have data c=sheets on a range of battery stuff which is probably worth a look too.

Chimo i thought having two different size batteries might have been for lack of space as i never asked for it.
    Thanks

    Hi Troy
We have cruise craft and dual battery set up. We have large marine battery and smaller one as well. Depends what your needs are. We stay out sometimes up to 4 nights and have had no problems starting, running lights, sounder, radios and cd player.
We also keep on board a battery pack just in case but to date no problems running anything.

    Cheers

    Ronnie H,
mate do you mean you have one large battery and one smaller one wired up as twins as that is how mine is done.
Some have mentioned on this site that they should be the same size.
What is your opinion on this.

    Hi Troy
We have one large battery and a smaller one. We have a switch marked 1, 2 or all. This means we run battery number one or battery number two or run both together.
When we go out I run on number one--- the larger battery and run lights from this one to. Switch over to number 2 and run from the smaller battery for lights etc . Run on both on home journey to keep them both charged.
Mostly run from the larger one for starting etc but have used the other one just to make sure it is big enough to do it.
Its a great set up and this way you can be sure you always have a charged battery. I still carry the power pack as it has an inverter as well and can charge the mobiles etc on it.

What size motor do you have and how do you think the boats handle. ????

troy , i have 2 setup with the start being a high cranking amp battery and the house battery being a agm battery , the high crank one only has the engine attached and the agm has everything else . these are managed by a brp cluster pack which has 2 by battery master switch , a emergency parrallel switch and a vsr ( voltage sensitive relay ) and that relay automatically charges the house battery only when it needs it and when the engine is running http://www.bepmarine.com/showcategory.cfm?categoryid=4

this is basically a system that only needs to turn on both batteries at the start of the day and turn them off at the end of the day , no stuffing around trying to remember which battery needs to be charged and it has the emergency parrallel feature which lets you run both batteries together in case the start battery is weak .

and by having the 2 different batteries you have a battery for starting that is meant to deal with strong current draw while starting the engine and you have a agm battery which can handle being run right down and recharged again over and over again and the high crank batteries dont last as long if they are being run right down
