    Tragic Accident

    G’day all,

Saw news earlier n was saddened by death of a skier hit by a prop in lake Macquarie.

Very bad news, I thought perhaps someone with more info may have posted, but not so far, ……..devastating news.

    So heres my report

I feel for the boat driver who has totally accidentally killed his friend / partner / who knows? May have been at fault? But what a price to pay regardless, not good.

Report says she suffered cardiac arrest at scene and died, prob brought on by the sight of her horrific injuries. Poor woman.

What a shocker outcome to a days fun on water.

I hope the investigation reveals somehow we can go forwards and take heed from this tragic accident, and that this woman has not died in vain, and we can hopefully help to prevent a repeat of this terrible accident.

I run an all rounder and ski often, and it just shows to emphasis….. person in water near transom…. MOTOR OFF, NOT NUETRAL ……OFF.!!!

Motor in nuetral, driver turns chair round, knocks into gear…. Severed limbs… so easy!!

My thoughts are with the distraught members of this unfortunate family, and hope that they can come to terms at this most testing moment in time.

If anyone per chance knows these people, maybe we should all pull together and try to raise a couple of dollars for them in their time of need. I’d be up for contributing……

Maybe a moderator could set something up??

AdvertisementA waterskier has died on the NSW Central Coast after being slashed by a boat's propeller.

The woman, aged 40, was skiing near Shingle Splitter's Point at Lake Macquarie about 10am (AEDT) today when a boat's propeller slashed her abdomen and a leg, an ambulance spokesman said.

She went into cardiac arrest and died at the scene, the spokesman said.

a big bronze prop attached to 350 chevy is going to be unpleasant (and I'm not saying that is what happened at Lake Mac).

A mate has some impressive marks on his foot and leg from an alloy prop attached to a 15hp 2 stroke from an incident at a boat ramp. He was lucky, as it happened in the territory a long way from help.

It is sad, and I feel for all concerned, and their family.

tragic, i can't imagine what it would be like to be involved in something like that..

i remember when i did my licence test many years ago, that was one of the things the tester could not stress enough when he made me rescue a life jacket. said he may have failed me if i had not killed the motor....

Ron..she may have been hit by another boat. When I used to ski a bit there were quite a few instances where skiers in the water did not raise their arm so they could be seen...have also seen boat drivers looking behind...that is why you have a spotter (to look behind)...so many things can happen when skiing and alas another tragic accident has happened. But..let us keep things in perspective..any loss of life is bad but the waterways are still safer than the roads.
