    Another Navionics Card Question!

    Folks,
I have just got a Navionics XL3 card for my Lowrance 337CDF, and still getting used to it.

Does anyone use this card AND log the Sonar plot as well?
Previously I logged the sonar on an ordinary 1 GB SD card, from the moment I got into the boat until the moment I got back to the ramp.

How can I do that now with the Navionics card in the slot? I dont want to write to the Navionics card, and besides, it only has about 30 MB left after the map files, as it is only a 120 MB card.

If I start logging with the Navoinics card in the slot, it will write to it, and 30 MB will only give me about 40 minutes data logging anyway (I think).

I was hoping to be able to copy the Navionics map files to my 1GB SD card, and then there would be no problem.... but it seems that I cant do that.

    Any thoughts on this????

    regards
    Mike

    Hi folks,
has anyone got any ideas on this one?????
There are a few individual map files on the card, as it is the whole East Coast maps..... could I delete the ones I am not using to create more space on the card??? and then just put them back again when I need to use them??

    Would that work?

    regards
    Mike

    Thanks for the reply Arnie.....

I too have the lowrance program, and do know a fair bit about it if you need some help. In fact, there is a better one available for free.... It is called GPS TrackMaker. I have found it to be quite good, and it interfaces with Lowrance. Go to www.gpstm.com for the details, and to download.

    But back to my problem....

The problem with using another card to record on, is that once you start logging from the Lowrance, it logs to the SD card right away. If you have the map card in then thats where it goes.
Needless to say, if you take the map card out and put a blank SD card in to record the log... well... you dont have the map any more!

    Just cant win, can you??

    regards
    Mike

Unfortunately if you have a model with only one slot you are stuck. You can't transfer the Navionics files to another card without destroying leaving you with a useless card and down a couple of hundred bucks. If you want to do this regularly then you may have to consider upgrading to a double slot model.
