G'day BBF,
It depends on where and how you are fishing. For trolling SEQ impoundments, you can't go past some of the local lures like Blitz Bagas, Brolgas, Voodoos, Strike Zone Critters etc.
For surface fishing in Maroon, Hinze, Clarrie Hall or Cressbrook, poppers like the new one from Rio, the cheap Prince, or Skitter Pops, or the Storms. Fizzers from Bills Bugs work too.
If you are into cast and retrieve, most Spinner Baits work, and sof plastics like the Big Bite 3" Grubs will take fish. Tail spinners, slices and tuna slugs are worth a try too.
If you want to use a downrigger, my favorite is the Lively Lures Micro Mullet, in pink.
Reading back over that, it looks like Bass aren't really very bright, and will take just about anything. The trick is having the right lure, with the right technique on the right day. (or night)

I fish because the little voices in my head tell me to
Hi Big_Bass_Fisherman I'm the BeastMaster - Just went Bass Fishing for the 1st Time on 8 and 9th/march 03- took my 9 yo son , I caught 1 bass 56cm noise to tip of tail - son bl..dy caught many more.
We used a lure called a smak 19 - Im a salt water man myself but from what I could gather from this fresh water scene you have to select different lures depending at what depth the fish are holding at.My bass fought some what like a tree root but like I said I'm a salt water person.pls find attached photo of 2 fish we kept to try out as a meal.

Nice bass beastmaster, what dam by the way. It all depends where you are fishing, in the hardbody department a fluoro clure jack snack has been good for me, although it didn't get any monsters today ???
Hi beaastmaster, I'm also keen to know which dam you pulled those nice spec. from. They look like BP fish to me - am I close.
What depth did you catch the bass. That is a nice fish.
Regards
Sav
hi beastmaster
I would realy like to know were you got that great bass and nice size yellowbelly i've been fishing all weekend and caught some nice sized bass and a couple of good yellows and silvers, but none that good i would like to know your secret.
The lures i've got have worked well but no fish that good.
Through my limeted fishing in south east QLD dams I have found its not what you use, Bass to me will strike through aggression more so than lure type, size, colour, etc. If I was only allowed 2 lures on any dam I would choose a purple as my first choise, then green with black tiger strips for my second. Both around 70 or 80mm long with sonic attractors.
All I know, is lures catch fisherman more so than fish, just check out my tackle box says the misses.
Yeh, what dam r they from. My guess is BP or North Pine. Local made lures seem to work best for me with Trolling. My current Faves are Strike Zone Phycos and Cicadas,Flicks Cobra,Voodoos and Boomerangs all in Purple except the Boomerang, I like Fire Tiger and Ausse gold. Its getting close to trophy Bass season in my local ponds. Bring on winter......Matt Q
Giday to Mackmauler,sav,Big_Bass_Fisherman,captain and quinny69 (interesting name by the way How did you get it ?) Dear fellows the BeastMaster is NOT repeat NOT a expert in this field and I'm much more accustom to trolling large hexheads at 18 knots. To answer the most common questions of where - ummmm ... in the water on the port side of the boat - in 24ft of water in BP dam. Lure colour seemed not relevant , I tend to agree with the Captain - you're better off finding a school of fish , then upsetting them by continually trolling over them ,with all sorts of colourfull stuff until they get agro enough to bite what ever is swimming in their private space.Come to think of it -A hexhead at 18 knots might even work.
PS took the Bass to the Taxidermist -she's charging me for a 57cm fish instead of 56cm - hey who's going to agrue with that.

How much would it cost to get a fish of that size(50+cm Bass) Mounted or Moulded or what ever they call it?.Shure look nice on the bar or coffee table.. Cheers MQ
Hi Quinny69
$156 - It takes approx 3 months to do the job . The taxidermist I use charges fish by the cm . ie $2.75 per cm , this also includes a backing board or you can supply your own if you have a good piece of timber laying around the house.

Is there any chance of seeing this persons work, any pics on the net?Thats not to much $, I thought it would be a heap more. Any more info on getting ya Bass "STUFFED" would be aprecciated. Do they work off pics and mesurements ect or do u bring the fish in. Cheers M Quinn
Hi Quinny69 , Yes you take in the whole fish even if you only want the head mounted. No moulds- you get the actual fish.Pls find attached a photo of a cod head she did for me some years ago.Pro Catch at Sunnybank Hills have a coronation trout mounted up on their wall behind their counter.
Ill post a photo of the bass for you when its finished (approx 3 months)
