My mate and I were the first to stay in the new cabins that have been installed at Awoonga (December 2001), they finished the sites the day we arrived. Great position with regard to the lake, and just next to the camping area. Air-conditioned, with your own facilities, can't go wrong! Just remember that access is restricted to the ramp between 8pm and 7am (this may have changed though), so you either need to fish after 7am, or leave your boat on the trailer in the car park, or leave it on the shore below the camp ground (the camp ground is well elevated from the lake).
You will be disappointed staying at Willowgrove simply because of the distance to travel to Awoonga. There may be a new manager at Willowgrove, when I was making enquiries, he couldn't be more helpful.
We fished 4 days solid for 2 catfish, and 2 confirmed hook-ups. My mate has been back twice for the same results.
Macca, markfc is on the money with that, there is a hell of a lot of new water now though, fishing is quiet slow from what ive heard, Ive only fished it once last year but got 8 barra in the boat in 2 arvos and a few cattys, surprising how well they go on a plate. cheers.
