    Re: Baitcasters

    G'day Bobmaan
What type of baitcaster do you have? also if it has a magnetic or cast control wind this up to nearly all the way and then try casting the rod from your side straight out at 90 degrees then forwards.
    Practice Practice Practice
Keep it smooth and feather the spool with your thumb as the cast slows down. The tangles are called birdsnests and are caused by the reel spinning faster than the line is peeling off. Type of rod also effects casting.
Let us know what exactly youve got and further advice will surely be given
    cheers

Thanks landy1. Myreel is really old and all it says on it is anti reverse. The rod is also 2m and has a medium action if this matters. reply back if there is any more tips

    Re: Baitcasters

Any idea of a brand on the reel, and is it one of those lowprofile jobbies like the Shimano Bantams or is it cylindrical like a coke can sideways ABU style. The low profile reels usually have some form of tension adjustable cast control on the left side of the reel and the cylindrical usually have it next to the drag on the right hand side.
Start off trying for short casts without overun (tangles) and then work on distance when you get a better feel of control.
    Cheers
