Winter river bass
I am going next week 4 July to the Armidale district fishing for bass in the streams. Never seen a bass before - spent $$$$ on every lure known to man kind. Any thoughts as to what I should do to hook some bass.

Try Georges Junction at the bottom the Big Hill (between Armidale and Kempsey). Its getting pretty cold though.

Re: Winter river bass
Spend a day with a guide to get the inside knowledge, will save you heaps of time. I think the bass are in the eastern side rivers (of the escarpement) ie. those that run to the sea.

P.S. Armidale at this time of year is Ubber cold. Make sure you pack the thermals. I did some field work down there in June/July a couple of years ago sleet is common.

Re: Winter river bass
gday
if you go to the armidale area in july you will continue to never see a bass!!!! if you want to see a bass...fish in the brakish water coz thats were the bass are this time of year!!! its their spawning time, the clarence around copmanhurst...or grafton. or the lower reaches of the macley river around kempsey....anywere except armidale!! up there all youre likely to get is a fine because of the closed season for the trout
btw.... wat were the creeks you were planing to fish??? as far as i know about the only fish that are in the armidale area in any numbers are trout redfin and a few of the western rivers natives, as far as i know anyway...you have to go a fair way to get into the bass.
you gotta go a bloody long way to get a few bass....
cheers
