I recon your closest bass would be going over the Head to Maroon or over the Gap to Moogerah. Both are suffering from low water but if you've got a 4X4 its no probs launching.
These two spots fish totally different from each other. Maroon tends to be a fringe, shallow water fishery where at Moogerah alot of the fish are found in deeper water around break-lines by comarison. There are always the odd exception to this however.
How to catch them, I'd be getting hold of some relevant articles on the net or in mags. There just aint enough room to write an essay here. Or go back through the reports section.

cheers gary
No probs,
I would advise going to Moogerah & walk the gorge below it. Can go for miles along there. Beautiful country!!! There's a couple of campgrounds downstream. On the left is one called The Gorge & on the opposite site is Yarramalong. Not bad camping spots if you are looking for an overnight stay. You can park up near the wall & walk down & then back up if you're only day tripping.
I've fished the gorge there alot in the past but not for a few years now. Got some good bass, yellas & silvers there. A mate last year claimed to have caught a saratoga there however they've never been stocked in that area to the best of my knowlege.
Its definately worth a trip.
