do you mean telescopic rods or the 4 or 5 peice ones? i have never used them but i dare say that they would get a flat spot at each join. they all have their use if storage is hard to come by.
i have a shakespear excursion the reel is crap and its too easy to lose all those bits of rod also have a little telescopic rod they are ok to have in the car to flick a lure when u take the kids to the beach but i still reckon u cant beat a good handline for space saving
if i were you, id stick to a 2 piece rod, something you can put in a rod tube made out of pvc pipe, usually only 6'6" rods.. bream down to just over 3ft long, small and easy to carry, and if the pvc pipe is large enough, you can carry a couple of rods.. the supposed "travel" rods are usually pretty weak and very soft.. unless they are top of the range $500 to $900 type rods
