Tackle backs
Can Tackle backs be used by a shore based angler fishing in rivers?
Cheers

Tackle backs can be used from the shore in some cases, provided you are not snagged too far away from the bank. They are more usefull from a boat though. A brilliant device and you only need to save 2 lures to cover the cost.

Ihave a number of lure retreivers all but one large size tackleback are home made they are in different sizes and designs some are copper pipe filled with lead i drilled two small holes along the back of the pipe two holes at the front and on the same axis on the other end .i twisted up two ramshorns out of stainless tig wire and bent them at 90 degrees these went in the holes along the back a half circle was made for the front with a smallbend on each end this went on the inside ofthe pipe with the bends poking through the holes from the inside this stops it from pulling out now get some small brass chain with joined links about 10 mm long cut 4 or 5 lengths of chain about 100mm each and thread them inside the pipe and pin through with stainlesswire on the other end grab a bucket with sand hang your retreiver so the pull wire is in the sand and the chains are straight now fill it with molten lead when it cools clean it up and touch up with molten lead use 3/4 inch pipe or what ever size you like once you make one others are easy and cheep unlike commercialy made ones between12 and 25 $ each if anyone else wants to try this idea go ahead your welcome ENJOY save money and your lures i know how expensive they are whenyou dont make your own
