stocking a dam
Hey ive just moved to a mates house in buderim and there is a small dam here. id say about 15 meters x 15 meters. I was thinking about putting some bass in there and maybe even a saratoga or 3. I dont want to use fingerlings because there are eels in the dam which will eat them for breakfast andi want to be able to start catching them almost straight away. Any tips on keeping these would be appreciated. also how many bass would be ok in there without over crowding? im thinking between 30 and 50 would be ok maybe??? Is there a way to buy bass and toga fully or mostly grown?Toga id want about 30-45cm and bass between 20-30 cm. How much would i be looking at investing? Cheers

Re: stocking a dam
working 12 hours a day with no car to get me any where when ever i want is very hard. its alot easyer to walk about 40 meters from the back door and cast a line. providing its not going to cost too much.

Re: stocking a dam
first i would tryto catch some of them eels because they will try to get a hold of a mid size bass!
not sure of the bass fishing up that way but here on the mid north coast nsw we have healthy natrual breeding stocks with plenty of large findgling so some of the blokes catch the smaller ones and put them in the dams BUT this is no way leagl and alot of people frown apon doing it!

Re: stocking a dam
cheers tony, i can drive my mates car but only when he doesnt need it for work which isnt often and id also like to just chuck a line after work without worrying about going too far. So any spots you can point out will be good. land based if possible or swim based.
