    Deep Bass

    Hi Team,
When the Bass are holding at about 40 plus feet, what do you do and use to catch these fish. I have had a couple of goes at the bass in deep water at Glenbawn and each time I have drawn a blank.

    G'day robman
At Lake Cressbrook we get fish holding in depths like that as well. We have had success trolling using a downrigger, and usinng heavy softplastics, either jigged or cast and retrive.
    Hope this helps

    G'Day Robman,
Jigging Plastics mate, thats the way we lift them at Somerset, smear a little bit of encouragement on the Sliders and the jig it's self (I use a 1/2 oz Data Head jig to get to the bottom asap),on their day at Somerset the jig more often than not does not get to the bottom, work at it and be patient good luck Cheers Whitto

    Robman,
A friend at Glenbawn did well ,he was in the money at least. He was fishing the deep bass in all depth but the fish were sitting at average 35 feet where he was. He measured off 35 feet of line on the bank and put a black perma ink marker on his braid and when fishing just opened spool and let it go till the black mark came up. Then he new his bait was in the zone all the time. He used 1/8 ounce jigs and worked a treat for him. When the wind is up he went a little heavier. This was just for those suspended fish but when they are closer to the bottom just cast out and let it sink and wind a few turns and then let it drop back to them and start the wind again.

    Good luck.

    Re: Deep Bass

the good old spinner bait can also get them in the mood
a nice heavy spinner cast out and let sinkthen a VERY VERY slow retrive to keep it at the depth
one thing you will need to watch with fishing bass at depth is their swim bladder to prevent this ether use light line and don't rush them or learn how to vent the air from the bass proply
