Alvey side cast reels

Hi ya all

Ive been using baitcasters and egg beaters all my life, so Im wondering if it is possible to use an Alvey side cast reel with a boat rod, (fishing from a boat)

Ive heard that the Alvey brand is pretty good.

Any suggestions/comments will be appreciated.

When you say "boat Rod" you mean ??

But that aside, it is very possible to use an alvey on a boat rod.

I currently use an older 5" C5 alvey on an older 9' diawa rod (the rig is refered to as Old Faithful) for whiting and bream and am thinking of setting up my 600 BCV (usually on a 12' surf rod) on a shorter rod bottom bashing.
