It's in northern NSW near Kyogle (page 230 in the Beacon to Beacon Directory).

You can stay at Bells Bay camping ground.

Phone 02 6633 9135 NSW water resources for more info.

There is a closed season for bass in August, September & October.

    Hi Banshee,

Have you got dates for your club trip yet.

I'd be interested in meeting up and maybe drag some of my club members along.

I assume the fishing is lure casting rather than troling?

    Re: Toomunbar dam???

G'day Walrus, our club is booked in for the 17th-19th of sept.Strange as it may seem most of our blokes probably won't fish, this will be a social outing for members, wives and kids.We are a deep sea club and off hand I can only think of three blokes in the club that have tinnies,I have never attended one of these weekends but I think drinking, tennis, drinking, golf, prety much takes up most of the day, then late arvo a few of the lads walk the bank tossing lures, this is then followed by food, cards and beer.Having said that, your idea appeals to me,I'll mention it to some of the lads and see what we can come up with,we might be able to come up with an interclub challenge of sorts.I'm from the Lismore Deep Sea,what club do you belong to?

    Hi Banshee,

I'm from the North Brisbane Sportfishing club. It's an ANSA club and our members fish fresh, estuary and ocean.

As well as having fun & catching a feed, we're also into taging.

This is the link to our club site.

    Hi Luc,
I thought Ausfish was hosting a site for NBSFC at http://www.ausfish.com.au/nbsfc/
If its not needed I can get Steve to wipe it from the server.

Sean, I have a map of Toonumbar online at http://www.sweetwaterfishing.com.au/Toonumbar.htm

    Re: Toomunbar dam???

Not a statutory one anyway. Maybe only in practice for some...In my neck of the woods (upper catchment Richmond) most of the (larger) bass are gone downstream for winter anyway.

Regarding Toomunbar - has anyone caught eastern cod there? Quite a lot were stocked but bugger all have been reported as captures or sightings.

    Re: Toomunbar dam???

The Bells Bay camping ground is another option, its part way up the dam, a very pretty spot, basic camping with pit toilets, bring your own everything. the boat ramp is basic,
    but has a little jetty.
The cabins are at the dam wall end, very comfortable, the ramp there is very steep, next to the wall.
The dam fishes well sometimes, like all dams. I have never had any luck with schooled fish, but edge fishing can be good.
All fish are stocked, so limit your catch ( 2 fish in posession, per day, only one over 35 cm) and have fun.

    Re: Toomunbar dam???

    Hi Guys,
I was planning a first trip down there later in the year and planned to stay at theToonumar Waters Retreat but they were booked solid on weekends till late in the year. I actually got a phone call yesterday from Jan (Bookings) who told me that they have had a cancellation and have two 5 Bed Cabins available on the weekend of the 4 & 5th of September. I can't make it myself on that weekend but thought I would let you guys know it was available if you wanted to get in there. Be quick ! Speak to Jan on 02 66339135 and tell her you found out through Harry in Toowoomba.
