Does anyone eat anything out of freshwater

I have tried freshwater fish on the plate and they are ordinary does anyone eat the fish they catch in freshwater?

Does a bear crap in the woods? Do the Kennedy women wear black? The quality of freshwater species such as yellowbelly and murray cod depend on the location from which they were caught. Those taken from running rivers taste better than those from impoundments (imho). Also, how you prepare the fish makes a difference. Chill the fillets, remove any fat line from along the top and also in the area of the butterfly,(if left on), dip in egg, or milk and lightly crumb. Cook for a few minutes each side and serve with a dash of lemon juice. mmmmm

Yeah we eat freshwater Barra from Teemburra and Faust all the time and out of the 10 or so fish I have taken in the last two years only one has had that muddy taint that some people talk about.The rest well what can I say besides YUMBO!!!!

Yes,
Dont try to eat fish that are too big as they get lazy and fat lying around dams.The best freshwater fish are from rivers that are flowing,and just over the legal size.AS mrrobbo says chill the filets and trim any visible fat before cooking.It is also good to soak filets in salt water for a couple of hours before cooking.
Murray cod around 3kg is as good as ANY salt water fish.

Mrobbo has got it in one. Don't forget the humble redfin as well.
Rule of thumb fish (cod/yella)bigger than 4/5 lb not that tasty.
Not that I've eaten or want to eat cod

I eat fresh water Fish, and have done so all of my life. Dont get me wrong I also eat salt water fish when available, my fave eating salt water fish would have to be Thread Fin Salmon (NT style). A few weekends ago we had 10 good sized yella and a few Bass filited and thrown on the BBQ (No fancy crumbs or spices). All were cleaned, scaled and chilled straight away then cooked the next day. could not ask for better.

Nup,

Just like them.I have grown up on salt water fish from the ocean and these days the only fish i kill are from the ocean,snapper,pearlies,marbled lizards,mackerel etc in my opinion fresh water fish arn't worth the gas it takes to cook them ,just don't like them so i don't eat them..personal thing.
I have eaten just about all of the fresh water fish from both dams and rivers..just don't like em.

I grew up on a diet of Redfin, Trout and Murray Cod, as well as a heap of Black Ducks and Woodies at the right time of the year. A Reddie is hard to beat as an eating fish, and trout are popular on the table the world over. Suggesting that Murray Cod are no good once they reach 4-5 pound is a bit off the mark. At that size, most cod do not meet the minimum legal length. My wife like Yella's and the occaisional Bass, not that I bring many home for her.

HELL YES!!!
if its in NSW ive probly had it. from carp and cod through to reddies and trout...gimmee gimmee gimmee. but the best for me would be a tossup between a brown trout or a nice redfin!!! the cod and yellowbelly that i have had were nice but i prefer the introduced fish. if for no other reason that if there is less of them there are more natives for me to catch and release!!!
but wit the cod the best ive eaten went 30LB and it had the best flavour of any native. and it was caught out of keepit dam. but the old carp pattie aint too bad either....if u like crap...

Got to agree with you Fishy_Phil , just can't beat a good brown trout! When I used to live in the snowy area of NSW, Dad and I used to regularly fish the streams and impoundments, particularly Jindabyne and Eucumbene. If some of you are concerned that fish taste like the water they come from, then the beautiful brown trout from Jindabyne taste like crystal clear fresh water. Yummmy!
Try one, and I don't mean those farmed, tasteless ones.
