    Lake Dyer

    Hi All,

Has anyone fished lake dyer? What are the water levels like? I have never fished there, Fitzy mentions the lake in his locations but I ahve never heard any reports etc on the lake.

Fity does mention the lake can be drained out in times of drought.

Can anyone give me some current info on the lake.

    Cheers

Got a feeling last level I saw for it was 0 percent.

Dyer is currently at 9%. 12 months ago however it was at 1 or 2%. I doubt there would be too many fish still in it.

I dont think Lake Dyer got that low, Lake Dyer has not been down past 5-6 % for a long time.

I am not sure about the impacts of the fish kills on Lake Dyer, but the Dam is very full of food and the last couple of fish I got out of Lake Dyer were fat as fools and in the best condition of any Dam fish I have ever seen.

Most people have given it the swerve since the fish kills.
I have tried a couple of times in the last couple of months to see what fish survived but aint been too lucky. But plenty of fat jewies in there still.

Its rather low still. I havent heard a report of a stocked fish getting caught from there for a long time. Recon BB is right, the jewies should have survived ok, but there was a fish kill a few years ago.
Last time I went there you could drive your car up through the middle of the dam & bring up dust all the way. It had split into 2 separate holes.

A local told me that the dam is filled by the council up there by turning on a pump when the Laidley creek is in flood.

    Is this right ?

As there has been times this summer when the water level has been above the weir on the creek but the dam has never increased in size.

It just shows how tough the drought is when a small dam like that one can't even be filled up.

This is nearly correct, there is a weir on the Laidley creek with a valve which is opened up when the creek is in flood.
However the creek must run through to recharge weirs downstream first before the valve is opened up to let water in.
