HEY MATE GOOD TO SEE ANOTHER CREESBROOK FISHER. i'VE NEVER HAD ANY JOY IN BAIT FISHING IN THIS DAM. i THINK MY DAUGHTER MAY HAVE GOT A BASS ONE TIME. i HAVE ONLY CAUGHT BASS IN THIS DAM ON VIPER LURES BLACK WOULD YOU BELEIVE? JACKALLS WORK WELL FOR LOTS OF OTHER PEOPLE AS DO SPINNERBAITS ALSO NOT FOR ME. i AM A BAIT FISHERMAN LIKE YOURSELF? BUT AM FORCED TO SUPPORT THE BAIT SHOPS IN BUYING THE MANY LURES THEY SAY WORK WELL. AS FOR BUYING BAIT(WORMS ETC) I'M NOT SURE IN THE CROWSNEST AREA BUT U CAN PURCHASE THESE AT THE STORE AT HAMPTON WHICH IS JUST UP THE ROAD FROM THE TURN OFF TO CRESSBROOK.BEST OF LUCK WATCH THE BOAT RAMP WE IN DROUGHT TIMES UP THIS WAY.

I haven't bait fished for years but before I turned to the lure side I found great success in running a fluro yellow sinker straight to the hook. I Would still use a sounder to find the fish and drop the good old worm down. In cressbrook look around the 20ft mark as a starter if chasing the bass . Good luck

Little crays or shrimp always work anywhere. Unfortunatly lure fishing becomes addictive. I find a whole day casting lures for nothing is a lot more exciting than a whole day sitting and waiting for nothing. Anyway make sure you get localy caught shrimp or crays. We went through the hassle of calling up and asking if we could use red claw bought at the local aquarium for bait. Contacted both the dpi and the towoomba council and they both said its fine only to find out later its a big no no.

    Gee-Gee
U can back your trailer into the water as of the past few months it's not on the steep concrete ramp because it has been closed for some time, but you will see the other shallow ramp that's stoney muddy and shallow, and if it's windy and your on your own and coming in it will be a struggle all in all once on the water it's a great dam pity it is so low approx.36 percent. cheers

BY THE WAY 3 BASS (UNDERSIZE) ON GUESS WHAT? JACKALLS.

when we go to hinze dam we catch shrimp with a chicken carcase. i wonder if the same would work at creesbrook. most dams will only allow native baits. so redclaw would be a NO NO, being introduced. cheers jeremy87.Good to see some of our $2 entry fee has been used on the ramp or whats left. I think it sux we have to pay to get in when we r paying to camp. makes us not want to go out and see other parts of the area. (good for tourism).

I have never fished at cressbrook but a method I find really successful is using sand crickets, which can be dug from the bank you then put these on a float to where the fish are feeding and just hold on. This method has never failed me and I have pulled some monsters particulary from the Northern N.S.W impoundments.

Shrimp will catch you more bass that you can poke a stick at, and dont they just love em.

A bit hard to get them in the Crow's nest area, we have a couple of spots on the Bris River that we get our shrimps from, and take with us.

Hey mate if you know crow's nest well then try down heart mans park in the deeper holes for a few shrimp and if your in for a walk try the pump hole. Used to be shrimp in there any way. The crowy creek used to be good for yabbies under the rocks to. Though the easiest is to chuck your pots in cressy in the late arvo in the weeds to your left from the steep boat ramp. Good luck any way.

    Re: bait fishing in cressbrook

yer mate i used to leave them in durin the night but hide the ropes a bit. Best shrimp bait i found for around here is black and gold catfood with pilchards. There should be good shrimp in the holes as i never see anyone shrimp in them any more but i havnt tryed in years. Another spot to try would be the dam behind the cop shop. Perserverance used to be the best spot but its now illegal. Good luck any way.
