i saw a fella taking about 20 bass this afternoon from borumba dam. let me remind you that the bag limit is 2 per angler.anyway the fishing was pretty good for a 3 hour session i caught 2 bass and 3 goldens.and my brother 1 toga and 3 bass.was a good session and the fish seemed to be very active on the glass looking water coming up and taking insects off the top all the time

20 bass!! woulda been worth you saying something to him nathan. i like to give people a bit of a scare when i see illegal fishing going on... saw some blokes at the rock wall at mooloolaba one day with a few undersize school mackeral, i was just out for a walk so i told them i had just seen the fisheries checking some people back down the wall further. they sh!t themselves
what lures worked on the yellas? spinner baits again?
Its all good to call fisheries but on every occasion that I have done so I get the responce "we have no one in that area"...So you start to think that ringing them is a waste of time.
on another note- the guy might have not known what he was doing was illegal. it pays to know the rules well, and even carry around a few of the rule booklets. sometimes its worth having a friendly chat and letting them know the bag limits and what fines they face if they get caught. like i said a few posts ago, i do alot of fishing off the rockwalls in m'ba and you get alot of fisherman down there who are ether beginners or tourists (the tackle shops send them all out there). 2 of the most regular undersize fish i see taken are tailor and school mackeral. i think the reason for this is their size. to some one who has only caught little bream or whiting then a 28cm tailor, or a 40cm mackeral seams a big fish. So its taken with out any thought of a legal size. i have had chats with many people over the years most times they dont realise they wiould be breaking the law to keep it and release it.
Yeah i really wish i had of said something to him. Mainly because its getting colder now and bass seem to go off the chew so thats less bass for me to catch and RELEASE!!!! the next time i go out there.

P.S yeah jeffo got the middle sized yella on a spinnerbait and the other 2 on jackals and the bass on Tilsan Bass in golden sommerset or something along those lines
Hey guys - don't bag the B&F guys; bag the guy that say "if I give more $'s to **** , I'll have to give less to Hospitals and Schools".
Only a couple guys servicing all the area between Caloundra to Noosa - and they are like you and I - have families and committments; only get paid for 36.25 hrs per week. Its very hard to cover all the territory. DPI&F need more inspectors.
By the way - hope the guy choked on the 20 bass.
Regards
Sav
> even when obaying bag limits the majority of them are to blody much any way. i belive that estury perch get a hammerng from ignorent anglers. when you think of how many fish are being aken in one area every day and every week you begin to wonder why there not extinct ??? poor bloody things.
personaly i release all my fish
what would they do with 20 bass? Are they that good to eat? jeeeeez! Ive caught hundreds of bass and never taken one home so i wouldnt know. Im a big fan of releasing bass, especially down here where the creeks and rivers are stocked, kind of defeats the purpose of stocking every year if peeps are going to eat them. What do you guys do with the toga's? It saden's me to see them killed but thats mainly because i have a pet one.
i find its the older guys taking the fish, 50+ years .
they fish for food and the more the better.
it suxs but the signage at the ramps could be BIGGER and on both sides of the ramp so theres not missunderstanding the rules.

Familiar responce that one "we don't have anyone in the area"
Wouldn't mind 10 cents for everytime i've heard that one!!!!!!!!!
I don't blame the officers, I blame the system and those at the head of it for not putting enough officers in the field.
For a lot of people if there is no risk of being caught, they break the law at every oportunity. >
Catch and release is a great way to fish and i was talking to some of my friends about it and my biology teacher piped up and said that its downright cruel and cold hearted to catch a fish and stress it out and then let it go she said its no differen than how in malasia they eat a monkeys brain while its still alive!!!!.
