Family Friendly Fishing - Mackay Area

I will be in the Mackay area in Mid October and have not done any freshwater fishing in this area. I am looking for recommendations for a family friendly fishing destination which is accessible with the family sedan. I would prefer somewhere that does not have much in the way of submerged dangers also.

Any suggestions?

Try Kinchant Dam - It has good size barra and sooties along with some good catties. Very Family friendly - have a look at www.mafsa.org for more info.

Thanks for the info DRJ Im heading that way as well Can you tell me what the camping is like at Eungella (no facilities, Bush Camping, I hope)

Eungella has enviro dunnies and cold showers and some of the hottest sooty fishing around as well as a chance at a barra

Eungella - Fees are 3.75 per person per night - there is an honour box up there. There are no shops etc so make sure you take the right funds. Take your drinking water. It's all looked after by sunwater.

Kinchant - Kinchant Waters Resort operates here - On site cabin through to tent sites. Has a great bar and deck that looks at the sunset over the water. They do good meals as well.

Teemburra - Closest accomodation is at Pinnacle Hotel. Great pub and meals.
