Hey guys, am heading off to the South Island NZ, in a weeks time, essentially a family holiday but want to do a little trout fishing while I am there. I know it is closed season there at the moment but some rivers and lakes are still open to fishing. I will be only taking a light 2 pc spin outfit, with some lures, sorry to the fly purists only have room for a small amount of gear, and my fly fishing skills are a bit rusty at the moment. May be next time!
Any information on if they are still catchable in the lakes or what lures to use, am going to try some Squidgies if they are allowed there.
But looking foward to some positive feedback in the next week. I have donloaded their Sports Fishing Regulations 2004-2005 SOUTH ISLAND PDF file. So I know a little bit, but they don't tell you what lures you can use. Also this is a bit of an ask, but any one living overthere at the moment how are they and where are they bitting at the moment!
Cheers, Spook.
