if you are keen to travel there is good freshwater fishing out the back of oakey and inglewood but they are a fare drive from where you are

Re: New To Queensland
They get some good fish off the bank @ Lake Borumba near Imbil...
and there is still some good fish caught out of Yabba Creek down stream of the dam. Or ther is Ewen Maddock Dam .... it has plenty of eel tail catfish that can be caught off the bank... along with a few Bass/Golden perch and Saratoga
May be ya best bet with out a boat.

Re: New To Queensland
try baroon pocket dam, its up near maleny, can catch all sorts there, have caught bass, spangled perch, eel tails etc there off the bank, worms/shrimp good baits, any plastics or spinnerbaits you would usually use on bass may work

Re: New To Queensland
If your interested in watching some excellent bass fishing over the next 2 weekends the megabucks is on at BP this weekend and the ABT Grand Final next weekend at Borumba. I believe they are looking for observers for this event. So if you want to get out there and pick up a few tips contact Fishing Monthly.
Cheers.
Marcel.
