Have you given those pet Barra's a name yet Trev?

awoonga - ta - i agree on the boring trolling. i asked the question cause there aren't many trees in your photos and my experience at faust, monduran, and to a lesser extent teemburra involves casting around the timber. what structure are you fishing? weedbeds? lillies? sunken lantana? rocky banks? flats?
Screaming eagle,
All those locations you mention hold barra at Awoonga. All in the same day you can catch barra at all those types of places you mentioned. Yesterday I visited 9 locations and caught barra at all but 1!
6 different types of ground were fished. Lillies, trees, flats, rocks, weeds, open water. Barra live in almost all places in Awoonga, in any direction from the ramp.
# and one more point, if you are trolling correctly, it is far from boring as you need to focus on your job! Yes, trolling is boring if you just cast out a lure and drive around!!!!!!!! Trolling is a specialist job,, it involves the understanding of depth sounders and how to interperate displayed images correctly, it teaches you how, where, and why fish hold up in certain areas and at certain times of day. It helps you understand how lures acquire their working depths and how to maximise your chances in relation to lure diving capabilities, buoyancy, and troll technique. Understanding bait habits via trolling and sounder utilisation, is a bonus as well. Your eyes should be glued to your sounder, 24/7! Walking your lure over snags is an art that needs to be learnt, just like casting lures! Efficient trolling is keeping a lure near barra's strike zone at all costs! We troll for a reason, not for the sake of it. Casting sometimes can't get lures in the zone where barra are holding up! Trolling is an essential tool for barra fishing, fresh or salt,
It is far from boring! Understand barra movements, and you will involve trolling as part of your fishing repertoire!
Best of Luck,

TREV,
No intention of "Being Told" was meant by the post.
Trolling is a very important fundamental in understanding the barra fishery. Much can be learnt from the practice. It is a different style of fishing, and by no means everyone's cuppa Tea!
Put that smile back up hey!!!
Johnny

did you go out today before 3.00pm
Bosso,
Barra yesterday from 11am onwards, all sizes ! First fish was 1100mm, at 11.11 am.(all the elevens) landed 9 or 10 from 650 to 1140mm for the afternoon. We saw more year classes yesterday than i have ever seen before. 70's,80's,90's were common. Mixed with the larger and smaller fish, it was an eye-opening afternoon. The future looks great! Was off the lake before sundown. It was blowin' yesterday. My accompanying mate dropped 3 good ones, he uses barbless hooks quite often. It costs you fish in the long run!
