Lure suggestions for Tinaroo Barra?
Going up to Tinaroo on the weekend and just wandering what lures would be suitable for casting up there at the moment. Targetting Barra of course. I haven't been up there before and I've heard it can be hard going but my curiosity's got the better of me.
Any thoughts?
cheers,

Re: Lure suggestions for Tinaroo Barra?
I'ven never been to tinaroo , so i can't answer that one from experience. large fish exist in tinaroo, so large lures would be helpful. new stocked fish do exist, but i think they are still on the much smaller side, as in 4 kg or less! i may be wrong with that , so better off asking someone who actually knows! Caravan park, tackle store up that way, bloke in a boat at the ramp etc. many lures catch impoundment barra! If i was going to tinaroo, i'd use 5 to 8 inch lures for bigger barra, and minnow type profiles for the smaller fish!
That is all i can help you with!
If anyone else knows,,,please post!

Thanks Johnny, went up and had a look around but didn't end up taking the rods. Just went up for a drive with the girlie. Looks good though - I've been warned it can be a tough place to get a fish, but I'm going to have to drag the boat up there at some stage.

Re: Lure suggestions for Tinaroo Barra?
A rig I saw the other day being used by a bloke who regularly catches big barra up @ tinaroo was a TLD 20 spooled with 80 lb braid on a short stoker rod 24kg and his lures are Barra Classics modified with bigger trebles with single strand wire running from the tow point to and thru the treble anchor points. With this trolling rig he rarely loses big fish. Another interesting thing that he had in his tinny was a Ugly Stick baitcaster c/w Abu 6500 spooled with 30 lb braid sporting the same Barra Classic style lure. Its his lure tossing outfit. He also had 2 stainless steel buckets one tied on each side @ the rear of his tinny with about a metre of 6mm rope. Drops em overboard to slow his tinny down...trolls dead slow and he catches a lot of fish this way....cheers baldy
