Awoonga - Leader size?
Heading up there from the 14th-17th and was wondering what size leader to run?
Also would appreciate anyone's favourite lures for day and night fishing.
Cheers,

Re: Awoonga - Leader size?
60 lb minimum, 80 is my choice, 100 lb isn't a problem with some lures either. anything smaller than 60 can be a problem. Most barra lures work in Awoonga, both day and night. No problem with a halco scorpion in various depth ranges!!

Re: Awoonga - Leader size?
Yeah.... as Johnny said 60lb minimun.... but somtimes ya can get away with a hard 40 or 50 lb leader in troll situations.... 45 lb Schneider is a hard line and will be OK in a lot of cases and if using rubbers is not a bad choice. Presentation is not aproblem most of the time as you can run 120 lb plus leaders if required.... as the Barra seem to hone in on the lure and are not woried about what is in front of the lure.... as long as it still swims OK... We have run twisted leaders with butt section "4 ply" of over 200 lb and the Barra don't care... I know some fishos who are using 100- 200 lb "braid leaders" with good results.
Lures to use? Well if i had to fish a one lure comp for Barra i would go a Scorpion 125mm in 4 meter depth as this can be fished in water from 3 to what ever feet with good results. But it is good to have a range of deep and shallow lures
Cheers Les
