Coolmunda Dam Past Warwick has a good reputation for Cod, Glen Lyon in its Heyday was tops and still produces well though depending on where your located and the current reports Coolmunda is a viable option and there is allways a stop at Leslie for some Goldens on the way past!

Mate if you are keen for a bit of travelling head down to Copeton Dam in NSW. Some flat areas but generally the dam has quite a few deep gullys to be fished.

If you are able to head down to NSW then Pindari near Ashford is a great dam for cod with lots of structure, deep drop off etc that hold good numbers of cod as well as some good river above and below the dam to walk/ canoe for them.
Eat well, drink in moderation, exercise often and yet you still die anyway!

I caught a Murray Cod at Baroon pocket dam near melany, I had only been catching 20-30cm bass in there and didn't know they even existed, then I caught this 78cm murry cod, scared the crap out of me. It was about 10 times too big for my net and was wider then my boat, anyway if you want to catch one there is a chance at Baroon pocket.

I think you will find that it was a Mary River Cod not a Murray Cod. Not unliike in appearance. I hope you let it go as they are endangered and protected.

    Kind regards... David

    David,
Yeah it probably was a Mary river cod, I get confused between the two sorry. I let it go, I thought it was an endangered species, I just fish freashwater for fun anyway. It was a cool looking fish, sucks that I have probably already caught the fish of a lifetime, nothing could beat that rare experience.

    Cheers Quinn
