    Borumba Dam

My 2 sons and I are going to fish for saratoga at Borumba dam at the end of Feb 2006 and we need some help. You see we live way down south at Tilba NSW ( go the Blues ) which is about 1400ks from Borumba Dam. We would like to know what is the best way to fish for saratoga at the dam. Type of rig, rod, lure best line weight to use that type of info as it a log trip to take not to get it right. Is there any camping at the lake? Any help would be great, we will be taking a small v-punt with a 6hp will that be ok?

    Re: Borumba Dam

Hi well I dont know how you go about catching the ( toga )
except I have been to Borumba Dam a few time's The Camping is good with Flushing Toilets And Hot water showers pleanty of Fire wood to burn in the Fire places how ever the nearest shop ect is At Imbel 12 klm back where there is a pub afew shops ect
The Dam is about 2-3 kl from the camping so no leaving the boat in the water the ramp is not to steep and pleanty of parking at the top.
Now The ( Togo) I have not caught any my self but did see a wopper on the surface as we were troling along man I sure would have liked to hooked into that one.
Steve Brown is the man to ask about Catching them though as I belive he has caught some in his time
But If I can be of any more help drop me a message .
But if you want to try for Silver Perch or Aust, Bass then I have landed a few on a Stump jumper Luer on a medem line 6' Rod and eddbetter reel
Troling as slowly as the motor will go And I found the place that I got all of mine was a fairway from the ramp up near the tree in the water
The Aust Bass & silver Perch are the better eating than the toga as there full of bones so I am told ok Have a good Holiday Cheers Harry if you would care to call me drop me a line and I ll send my phone number to you Bye

    Hi Dannyboy,

I have found 3/8oz spinnerbaits to work the best for myself. Just work the timber up the arms at the back of the dam. White and green Nitro's are the go with there low profile the bass love them as well.
Here is one that my mate got on the last trip up there.
    Best of luck,

    Re: Borumba Dam

A variety of lures will work, mostly spinnerbaits and small minnows are the go but also fishing with flies works well also. Slow sinking plastics with blades also go well. make sure you bring a shrimp trap and catch a few shrimp in yabba creek (below the dam wall). Set them under a float with a #2 mustad big mouth hook. Saratoga have hard mouths and in addition to being arial fighters will ofetn spit the hook, so it is imperitive to use sharp hooks. Chemically sharp where ever possible.

    Re: Borumba Dam

Thanks for all the tips guys. I'm starting to work things out some what now. Do you think we should bring along an electric motor? We don't use to many spinn baits down our way for bass mostly hard lures. What weight line do you think is best around all the trees?
