G'day everyone. Great job everyone here is doing on a great site, finally I now have a log on. So does anyone here fish North Pine dam? Iv'e been taking my two kids there the past few months and have caught a number of excellent Bass and Silver Perch, but no luck with the yella. My five year old son has a fascination with this elusive fish, and each week he asks me if we can go hunting the ol yella, so can anyone give me some good pointers? As far as I'm aware there are yella in the lake.
Iv'e been coming to the site each day,but because of my work could not log on, until now. Not a great deal of work being done
We are actually going to wivenhoe next week for a few days (adventure training) but there will be time for a little fishing at night. Actually I plan to sleep by the side of the lake, so I might be a chance. As for North Pine, we have caught hundreds of catties, silvers, bass, spangled perch and a few Talapia, but no sign of the yella. Having said that we mostly use worms as I can't seem to find anywhere where I can get some yabbies.
Will try again tommorow as we doe every Sat......... the hunt continues...........
You can catch them on worms, shrimps and crayfish. They usually hold deep around structure and around middle of the water column, so fish without a float. Any steep banks would be the best bet, I don't have any experience with that particular dam so I can't be more specific. Good luck anyway.
Went on the hunt again today at North Pine, got a good bass and a 50cm Silver but no luck again with the yella. Might give that Leslie place a go, thanks for the tip
yella is rite leslie is good for yellas but if you want closer than warick... somerset always produces yellas if you have a boat. a nother way to pick up some yellas is bobbing a float on top of the water witha shrimp worm or yabby as bait
Bjelke and Boondooma have lovely yella's too. Both trolling and on live bait. At the comp on the wknd we got about 12 yella's just troling jackell's, great fun, nearly all were over 40 cm. They seem to like Jackell's quite alot.
