    Lake Callamondah

Where is it ? in the centre of Gladstone....even has a boat ramp ! and is stocked with Barra...So put the little tinnie in.... just using the elect... went along the wall that overflows{ When we get some rain}...Using a Richo,s Extracta  red/Yellow  3 cast on...headed straight for the boat under it and off...5min goes by ... casting to the water lilles  big boil behind the lure ...next cast on again..53cm in the boat...5 min  on again this one is 50 cm....Only small fish in here ...yea right....Bang...smashed...This fish is no small fry....one jump...and off.... over a metre ..and it has pulled the wire out of where  the front treble hooks on...They didnt seem to like any other lures ....l will be back again...Me thinks there is some rather large barra in there

Don't try eating any of them as they are shocking. I wonder if you knew that the happy valley lagoon has barra in it as well as there were fingerlings put in there a few years ago but there are no fishing signs there. I have a mate who lives close by and he sneaks down to test his lures there and has pulled out a few small barra and that was a couple of years ago so they must be getting big now.

hey awoonga i fish at callemondah all the itme off the black pipe behind Kmart...1st time i ever went got 3 barra and lost 2 good size ones!!!! I got one right up to the pipe and i really think it was around the 90cm mark it was a snodger! But as soon as i got it 2 the pipe i had no way of landing it so it had a bit of a flick n swam off...But the others were sort of from the 50cm mark to about 70 cm ... I have been going a few afternoons a week for a look but have had no sign of fish lately.. bit dissapointing really. But still havent got any bigger than that one i had infront of my eyes!!!!

                still-water,
lake puddle, or lake callemondah as it is really known, gets your hopes up before you go and fish in the big sea of lake awoonga! its a confidence booster......... so they tell me. i'm sure the duck pond would do the same. puts u in a positive mind before losing the plot during competition.............! day 2,,, if only i could sneak back to callemondah!!

*best of luck in the ABT , Trev and co.
