Mountain Trout as live bait

Does anyone know the best method of using mountain trout as live bait when fishing for large trout. Where is the best place to hook them and what sort of hook to use? Is it best to use a float and what sort of float and rig? How would I go slowly retrieving the bait hooked in the upper lip. Is it best to let the fish run with the bait or when is it best to attempt a hook set?

hook the bait through the centre of the head with the barb exiting out the centre of the gill plate

cast and slowly retrieve

Trout will take....run...stop...swallow....and run again..this is the time to set the hook and fight the fish

i only used this tecnique at night...but had great success

live bait with a float...hook just bellow the dorsal fin so not to kill the bait...some tecnighe for setting the hook
