    Cheers Lyndon.
hey lyndon, the matt is a fantastic idea and easy to use, makes lifting fish much easier for the angler and stress free for the fish....its a pity nath had so much trouble getting someone to take on the idea and get them into the market ( cost i believe)..

Hi Deano i agree, i saw the guys doing tagging in the open ocean using these on the side of a boat for all sorts of species.

It's a cracker of an idea for fish safety and well being.

    Cheers Lyndon.

    hi jm
thanks for the post, as the topic has been burning on us guys down at the hatchery. the stretcher that trevor (clap clap trev) has in the boat does illustrate an excellent method of handling. i must admit that my handling is not perfect but as i illustrated to you with the handling of the fish in the tank a couple of months ago is the closest to being harmless to the fish (from the side), but vertually impossible with a 20kg animal totally everything in the boat. i am working a tool to allow people to take photo's and handle the fish in a safe manner for both the fisherman and the animal. its about time that the fishing development industry listen to us guys about handling as we know what we are doing (well i challenge anyone to argue our techniques). again, i agree with you on the panic and chaos of the capture but the fishery is still a futile resource (winter 07, dont need to elaborate too much more). good post and good read.

    cheers

along these lines, i saw a device for releasing fish back into the deep on this site a while back.
kind of a weighted, barbless hook that the fish could shake off once it got to the bottom, or maybe the angler gave a tug on the line. there wasa a link to a video of it in use.
anybody know of such a thing, or was i dreaming about it?
    Sparkles,

It's called a release weight, have a look at this site.

    Nath,

My order still stands mate, would love to have one. Let us know if you progressed any further.

Would be ideal for myself and Pauline.

    Still think a great idea.
