where to catch the lovely carps?

anyone having experience catching big carps around brisbane city? really love this kind of fish for its weight and respectively strong body, please tell me the exact place and how big the carps can be there

Was in Brisbane over Xmas,
On several days, we went to the Leash -free dog walking park in Rochedale, a beautiful place with a bush setting & heaps of bird life, wetland swamp, etc.
At one end is what seemed to be a pretty, natural water course complete with lillies & a wooden bridge. We were all standing on said wooden bridge , all commenting on the pleaseant scenery, when ,ARRGGGGGHHHHH, to to my horror, the waterway was alive with carp.
My two boys were ready to start fishing for them immediately.

I had to tell them that it may not be accepted by the locals to well & they should be left alone.

To anyone that lives in that area, I may have gotten it wrong, but I thought it unlawful to harbour carp anywhere they could escape into any natural waterway.
Because my sister goes there a lot, I suggested asking the local council about the situation. Dont think she did. Maybe a local can correct me or, alternatively, ask council about it & have a great time with the kids killing the suckers off.
Just a thought.

I use to fish the lake an it use to be full of bass m e and my mate use to get 6 each a day i went there 3 months ago and not even a hit shows what the carp can do and ive been there before and found all carp heads all over the path so i cant see why you cant fish there i never got told to leave.
