seeking locations for competitions (bankside)
Hi guys,
Great website BTW..!
Im looking for locations within 1.5 hrs of Brisbane where I can hold fishing competitions.
These Competions will be held on the Bankside, so I would need around 10 spots all with at least 10m between them.
The fishing will be bait fishing with Worm etc..
The fish will be kept in keepnets (until the weigh in ) and then released (native non-noxious fish only)
If your interested in bait fishing for native fish it will be worth taking a trip to visit us fishing, it will be a real eye opener for some.!
I just need some venues.(Hence why I have come to you guys for help)
Dams large or small. Rivers or Creeks it doesnt matter what type.
The Competions will be run under an official Incorporated Angling Club, and the aim is to introduce anglers to Coarse fishing and Young and old and teach them some good skills to catching more fish.
If you know a venue that can host the events (once a month) please let me know.
I appreciate all the help.

Re: seeking locations for competitions (bankside)
Dont know any, apart from Somerset and Wivenhoe.
need more options so we can find suitable venues , that will
1. allow to hold an event.
2. allow access for parking.(dont mind walking a little)
3. allow room for each angler (reserve a section of the bank just for the event.)
1st there will be less than 10 of us (until the club grows)
If you know of anywhere where you can catch from the bank using Worm /corn/maggots and it fits the above points, then please let me know.
Thanks.

Try looking here http://www.sweetwaterfishing.com.au/locations.htm
I would advise you to gain the endorsement / permission from the relevant stocking group if you're holding any sort of competition on any lake in Qld.
Cheers,
Fitzy..

G'day fishingdms
Me and the missus visited Advancetown lake/Hinze dam over Easter to check out the shore based fishing options. The dam is full at the moment and so shore based fishing would be great....but there's a fairly healthy growth of grass around the edges of the lake which makes casting and retrieving a bit hazardous, so after loosing a couple of float rigs we moved on. The grasses are packed with freshwater shrimp though. I wished I had had a grappling hook on a rope to drag out a few swims around the lakeside which would have then made bankside fishing an option.
If you talk with the rangers there they might allow you to prepare some swims by dragging the grasss out, you'd also have to pick your spots carefully to avoid the trees behind too.

North Pine Dam is a definite option, but as Fitzy says, you will have to contact the SEQ Water boys (think its them) that stock the dam. Good luck with the events, let us know when they are on.

Why not contact the DPI
They may be able to tee something up for you guys and provide free brochures or assistance of some kind.
