All Aussie fish are great!!!
And it would be a pleasure of mine to at least catch 1 of all the species available. i enjoy fishing full stop. location, aproach, tackle refinement and the ability to just escape from all the hustle n bustle.
every now and then no matter what the species theres always the anticipation and the surprise. from that snag or the depths from that perfect cast or pure serendipidy. there comes a time no matter what the species when 1 will stand out from all the rest its the fish that gets the heart thumpin and the legs shakin its the fish that will test you both physically and mentally the pleasure you get when you aknowlege and tip your hat towards an aquatic individual that acepted the challenge win or loose is pure joy.
as for the subject of fish tasting like C$%P all i can say is that a fish only tastes as good as the water it came from and preparation is crucial.

you guys and girls have gotta sample the Barbel over hear in england, they are shaped like a torpedo and they hug the bottom of the rivers like nothing else. you get a 15lb natural fish on and you have got a bit of a problem !
this one was only 12lb 7oz and it took over 20 mins to land
aussie bass for me too, great looking fish, beautiful (natural) environment, great for taking lures, fight exceptionally on light tackle... they are a perfect example of wat fishing is about to me.
one fish that hasnt really been talked about much is the fresh water mangrovejack.. although not caught very often will well and truly give you a run for your money.. and in about 5 years maybe another HUGE species to bring the rest of the country to Lake Awoonga..
but for consistanty.. would have to be barra.. the first run.. so much power!!... but this many change in the future..
