Hey mates.. went to hinze on monday morning after taking my girl to school..A tade windy but not bad.. took off across the lake and procided down the west arm trying of course to catch something... went down and around ian's island and over to the west bank and started back for home.. Wind was coming at me and the bow of the canoe would not track to well and road high in the water so I picked up a big rock off the bank and put in the bow.... worked a treat..launched at 10 and got back to the boat ramp at 2;00... no fish caught but sure was a nice time .. Hard slog on way back but worth it all... Hope to catch a fish there some day.. BB
A plastic twenty litre drum of water works well too and doesn't scratch ya boat.
theres a few blokes down your way who fish Hinze 7 Wivenho from kayaks. I reckon paddlecraft are the way of the future for impoundment fishing. if you'd like to catch up with some of these blokes PM me & I'll put y'all in touch.
Hey mate .. It would be nice to have a different form of getting through the water but the canoe makes it possible to take the little one with me(girl)I would like to make a small out rigger for more stability.. Drum of water sounds okay, dont need it when someones in the.front...Anything to keep the bow down..Thanks for the offer and all but it up stairs for when I need it.. BB
I used to use a bag (sugar bag or fertaliser bag) and fill it with sand from the shore. That way it stayed stead and was easy to adjust the weight. Rocks would be just the same I guess.
Great Idea I thinks.. Like it..Iv also been thinking of putting a outrigger on the canoe ... that way I could put a trolling motor on it much easer.. It would be removeable for transporting it to and from where ever to here and there and back again..I like the bag of sand idea though.. it would sit well on the bcanoe bottom... BB
