Rockhampton weir/barrage
Can anyone tell me some info about fishing above the weir? Have a couple of months of work in Rocky and have rented a place overlooking the river above the weir. Any fishing going on there in the part of the river?
Many thanks

i am presuming you mean in the fresh.
if so, there are mostly catfish, however there are some barra further up. landbased in the fresh i think you can mostly expect to catch the catties. really a boat is needed to fish dawn/dusk further up for the barra.

Or fish the barra park half way to Yeppoon, garenteed to catch some

in a tinny dawn/dusk is the best IMO. if you find anywhere that there is some sticks/stumps it might be worth a try.

yeah mitch make sure you stay on the fresh side of the river and stay away from the direct barrage as you will get a fine if your in the boundary zone
wich is 400m upstream from the barrage itself
and in the salt on the other the same rule applies but its 400m downstream you will see signs saying but if you go north from the barrage up the river you will be fine
and if you get to rocky give me a yell i live in rocky not far from the barrage
