This was in the local paper the Chronicle today the 9th/12/ 2006
At this stage I have no info on how thigs will be handled if someone is late getting back to the ramp for the 4pm deadline but will be looking into it.
I believe there is more to it than the safety reason given as there has been damage to landscaping and equipment and people seen speeding around the dam early and late.
To those that have broken down the barrier fencing and torn down the no camping signs in the past few weeks to camp we hope your satisfied now that you have ruined it for those that do the right thing.

So there you go, WBW have basically locked the gates due to problems which I personally have warned a lot of people about, not saying it was an Ausfisher but by the christ when will people listen ???
Its a sign of things to come.
If you see someone doing the wrong thing, get details and report the incident, no matter how small.
Not good news Paul. Lenthalls is a really nice bit of water, sad to hear that members of the public are mis-treating the surroundings and being a nuisance on the water. Lenthalls reminds me of NT Billabongs... Nice surroundings, lilly-pad lined banks and glassed out water. Can't wait to fish it in the future.
sounds pretty ordinary to me
Big Unit-mate take a chill pill-I dont get the jist of what Canoedle has said and really no one would have looked any deeper into it until you fired up!!!!!!!!!!
We are all here to help each other.
Flip side is all the tossers will likely leave the area allowing those that fish there to enjoy the experience........just a pity it had to come to this.
I can remember fishing Lenthals about 4 years ago with a mate of mine...It was the first and only time that I have fished Lenthalls.
When we were trying to find out info about the dam we found the Head of the Stocking Assoc's phone number in an old issue of QFM. We rang him up and asked about the restrictions.
We told him that the boat had a 25hp, 4 stroke outboard..."I wouldnt worry about it!" was the reply. Then asked about the speed limit..."Just do it when you see other boats around" was the reply.
Then you watch the the last series of the AFC and the boats have motors big enough to power a small country. That was seen on TV and whoever bought the DVD.
But then you see the rules being HEAVILY enforced!?!?
Yes I agree, that by the sound of it there has been some idiots up there in recent times...doing the wrong thing and ruining it for eveyone. But there seems to be a bit of the ol "whats good for one, may not be good for the other"
Well it had to happen sometimes self policing doesn't work and it is just a sign of things that maybe coming on this great little impoundment. I have fished Lenthalls too many times to count and would have to say that on most occassions very few people do the speed limit, its irrelevant the motors are bigger on the boats than the horsepower restrictions state as long as all do the right thing and obey the speed limit but this is rarely the case,in my experience.
Playing the devils advocate here if the rules continue to be broken here the next step will be an electric only dam and I can see it being like Hinze and North Pine that is purely electric no combustion engines allowed to be on the boat whilst on this dam, won't be a good thing for me thats for sure but it will stop the dills from doing the wrong thing.
But these sort of idiots just move on to another spot until they destroy it for those that are willing to do the right thing.
> > Iam not surprised, Alot of hard work by some people is on thin ice as a direct result of stupidity and the inability of some people to understand what they are reading or not reading > > Whitto
Big Dan vice president of FCFSA and I went out to the dam today to pick up the catch sheets that Graham the caretaker for the construction site has been kindly getting filled in for the stocking group to get an idea on whats being caught and released or taken.
He informed us that another guy was caught with 2 barra on friday night and fined by the fisheries guys and others were caught without permits.
When will the message get through to these people fisheries are watching the dam closely and I think it's great and hopefully these grubs will learn this fishery isn't going unwatched anymore.
Also Graham informed us that the guy that was told last weekend not to camp where the following pic was taken came back again this week.
Not the guys in the pic they came later after the fist guy left and drove around the barrier > obviously they can't read, this is a big part of the reason the gates will be locked from the 18th >
Paul
I forgot to mention, could all that fish the dam call in at Grahams caravan on the left near the dam wall on the way out and let him know what you've caught so the stocking group can get an idea on whats being release or taken out of the dam so we can make a better fishery for you.
PLEASE HELP US CREATE A BETTER FISHERY FOR EVERYONE.
Here's a pic of the landscaping that is going on,there will be lots of trees and grass if allowed to grow so keep off it and do the right thing PLEASE.
Paul
My point exactly, What part of your photo complete with signage don't people understand, Its not rocket science, pleased to hear the Fisheries are paying close attention to the impoundment, Whitto
Myself and Gunna called into Lenthals last Monday on the way back from Awonga for a look as neither of us had ever been there. We didn't go on the water but from first impressions, I personally wouldn't be going fast on a dam that size even if there was no restrictions. Do people really try to water ski out there? I have one word for anyone who speeds there intentionally, FOOLS. Unfortunately its a small minority that has again wrecked it for the vast majority that do do the right thing. Thank you very much on behalf of everyone that does the right thing. Sorry, just getting annoyed by people thinking that rules and regulations don't apply to them. These rules are in place for their own safety. If and when something happens to them, they are the first to be jumping up and down cause of the so called dangers. How about using some COMMON SENSE!!!!!! Oh thats right, they don't have any. The picnic grounds are looking great. What does happen if you don't make it out by 4pm?
Thats my winge for the night.
