    Not Cheating,More like Practicing
Chance to test your knots and technique.

To me its all fishing they can just be as hard to catch in these farms as anywhere else at times and really these Barra farms are just like a micro impoundment.

    Re: barra farm y/n??

I took my Dad who is 92 to a barra farm some months back. Being blind and not real spritely a trip down the local creek in the tinny is out of the question. It was a very pleasant couple of hours which Dad spent sitting in a chair in the shade under a tree.
He caught at least 10 barra up to 55 cm and his comment at the end of the day was. Who would have thought I would still be catching barra at 92.
Without the farm the answer would have been a definite - nobody.
As Penn said, definitely not cheating but an opportunity to trial things, teach young kids and to give the not so young a chance to enjoy fishing.
    Kind regards... David

    Horses for courses.

It will introduce a lot of new anglers into the sport, and as said above fill a need for people unable to fish in normal areas.

So long as there is a need, they will be there.

I am all for any help that is available to the young, elderly or disabled. Sure that these farms bring a lot of joy to people who don't normally get to go fishing.

    Regards

Never been to a barra farm. Can someone post some details of a couple in SEQ please. My wife comes fishing with me and is yet to get a barra. Up at Awoonga, the best she has done is a cat fish.

This might be my best chance of getting her on to a barra to spark her interest. That way, she will show a bit more enthusiasm for my next trip to some of the barra dams.

I've tried to get details on the web (unsuccessfully). Can you post an address, phone number, and if available a web site?

Thanks Cam. Is that the one at Bli Bli where a heap of Ausfishers went yesterday? It's not real clear from the web site.

yeah same park. a big thanks to foggy for organising it. my 4 yr old nephew caught his first fish, and it just happened to be a 40cm barra! hell i started on bream and whiting! He is keen to go out in his dads boat now so my vote is dams/parks are a good thing. there are some horse mangrove jack up there as well. the biggest caught so far is 5.1 kg.

you can buy your barra for $18/kg. and it cost $40 dollars for the day 9am-6pm.

you should have come on sunday was only $25 from 4am-9am and a great morning despite south easterly

Would have loved to have come, but we had a 'Meet the Fockers Day' yesterday. Son's girlfriend's parents came around for a first meeting and wood fired pizza in our outdoor oven. Great day and nice people, but tough to miss a good fishing trip and meet some Ausfishers.

I usually take friends and family out to the local Barra park when they visit from down south.
It's a great experience for them, and I know they will definatley catch at least one. They go home with great memories and pics.

Also a great place for the kids, they absolutley love it
