thats why they can do anything they want like close it down to fishing if it all gets to hard > >

I can't agree with that Dan, I assume the Hervey Bay Water Board are servants of the Maryborough or Harvey Bay Council or maybe both, all these councilors are elected into office by the residents of that district (from what I read in the Brizzie papers local & state politics are quite volatile in that part of the world). If enough anglers rang their councilors some might actually sit up and listen, tell them what this dam can do for the area's economy and you will be holding them responsible. Every tackle shop and boat dealer within 100km should have a petition sitting on the counter and we should be letting Evenrude and their dealers know that we can no longer consider buying Etecs as 2 strokes might be banned in a few years, I'm sure they will send the HBWB and the council some accurate emission data on 2 strokes. To sit back and wait to see what the new rules are would be a big mistake I feel, once implemented or gazetted they would be much harder to change.
What is needed is a coordinated representation of the interests of anglers, and tackle and boating industry and possibly local accommodation stakeholders.
Wouldn't this be an ideal oppertunitty for The Fishing Party to step up to the plate and have a swing. After all it is the fishermen who are getting the rough end of the pineapple here. I could be wrong but through all the Ausfish posts on this subject I have not seen a comment from them.
They could impress allot of potential voters here.

I wish it were different but I agree - In todays world corporates are very much focussed on "the bottom line" - the bottom line of WBW has a lot more to do with producing drinking water than fishing

what you don't realize is that in the last two years nearly all what you stated in your post has already been done and more

BTW WBW is its own identity

Thanks Dan, I know you're doing all you can and keeping us all informed (much thanks) but I just find the possible future of the Lenthalls fishery hard to accept. I've often seen public opinion sway a "pending" bureaucratic decision but maybe that's the problem, it might not be pending and already a done deal, and on incorrect data. Also the HBWB might operate independently but they are owned by someone and that someone stands for election every few years.
(Bracing myself for the abuse) Wouldn't mind hearing from The Fishing Party.

OK all had, a meeting with WBW today
the rules are;4 knots 6hp and no camping gates open at 6am close at 4pm.
when the ranger/caretaker is employed at the dam things will change.
But in the meantime we have to sit and wait
i can't fish in my boat either

as soon as i know of any changes i will let everyone know

p s; the news paper article was a misquote by the reporter and hopefully will be rectified.
