    Cania Dam tips

I am thinking of heading out to Cania in two weeks time and was after some info and tips on what the fishing is like out there. Any advice would be great.

Went there last week....Top fishing..... Well the story is......Lots of souls trolling.... lots of long faces....no fish.... .Well l just went and done a bit of casting..... ....Bass after bass mostly on slider grubs....and a few on hardbodys..[.Lippless cranks] So my advice is... Cast dont troll....You should catch fish.......

Wazza you will have a ball. This is one of the best fisheries in Australia and all techniques seem to work. Spinnerbaits or TN60 Jackalls would be my 1st choice for bass & toga. A slider hooked up to a beetle spin goes ok as well. Try casting to the edge from where the dam narrows (3/4 km upstream of the ramp) to the end of the big straight with a high bank on the right. The camping ground closest to the dam is great for the kids with movies, swimming pools, native animals & parrot feeding every arvo. I wish I was coming with you.

Go early before too many boats on the water because it is only a small waterway at the moment with the water level low. Caught my bigger fish casting last time I was there.
