    G'Day Poppy Ray.

    Have a look at http://www.easygps.com/default.asp

    and

    http://www.gpstm.com/

They are free and support the Magellan range.

It's also worthwhile looking at the Magellan Aussie site. There are software tools available (for purchase) there - see http://www.magellan.com.au/accessori...group=Software

G'Day Poppy_Ray,Do you have any prices yet or are you gunna just shop around when you get there?,I too am looking at a few different units & prices & was wondering what price range to consider, some of the $400 to $600 jobs look good but I'm starting to think as I'm only using it in the bay & 'round the Pin that it maybe a case of overkill on my part.Cheers Touchy.><> ><>.

    Re: Magellan gps

    Hi Touchy.

I bought my GPS over 2 years ago now - got a Lowrance GlobalNav12.

I've found the handheld suitable for the type of fishing I do. I use it mostly for way point storage and rarely for actually navigation. The beauty about handhelds is that you can take them on a beach as well - makes finding those gutters at night pretty easy.

Lots of good units about. So long as you go for a respected brand you will be fine. I paid around $450 for mine and that included a mount. I expect that prices will be a bit less now and there should be some specials at the boat show.

BTW - I think I saw you heading down to Crusoe prior to the "Trip" earlier this month. I was the Explorer (blue boat cover) towing the dinghy and it's passengers back to Cabbage Tree Pt.

    Good luck with your shopping.

    Regards,

The best price here in Townsville was $689
Thanks again fellas, and will I make another posting when I learn how to "drive" the thing Regards Poppy Ray
