Free Shimano Stradic 1000 & Rod

Afternoon all,
Yes it is true. The above free. Just put on your dive gear & hunt around in the mud at the Coomera River mouth. Another casualty of the M&G.
What to relace it with? ???
Another Stradic (2500 model) or Diawa Capricorn? Any suggestions on a 2M rod would be appreciated too. Plan to use the outfit to bounce soft plastics for F/Head,etc.
PS. The lost outfit has a pink worm attached so if you find two outfits you will know which one was mine

go with daiwa reel and shakespear make a nice graphite rod rod is about $110 good value

What was the water depth there - and roughly what was the clarity of the water. I might be able to help you out on the weekend or one afternoon.

Brett,
At time of loss, 3/4 tide, 2.5M showing on sounder. At bottom of tide, less than 2m. We could see the bottom in 1M so I would guess that bottom vis would be about 1M. I didn't punch the MOB button (in shock at time) but I took a reference from a channel marker. It was off the main channel so hopefully not too much tide.

Didn't mean to come across that keen.

Just wondering on the area but in reality you're probably only going to need a snorkeling set. Scuba will give you more time on the bottom for search patterns but as long as it hasn't been covered over you should be able to find it snorkelling. Having said that I've been unable to find stuff I've dropped in the water while snorkelling and all I've had to do is dive down .

Anyway we can probably work something out

Bloody Landbased fishos, they'll do anything to get a trip in someone elses rig, and theyll most likely want you to piggy back them on and off the rig, so they dont get their little tootsies wet
Oh by the way Pete, i have a new stradic for sale found it trolling in the coomera last weekend.

I can sympathise with you....Several months ago I was fishing with my daughter...I put my rod down for 20 seconds to re-bait her hook and a monster fish took my brand new rod and reel away from me at a rate of knots...We seached in vain for the next hour or so..I also lost my burley bucket due to poor tying of it to the stern.

We visited the place several times over the next few days at various tides to no avail.

A week later we were fishing in exactly the same spot. First cast my brother's line tangled with some line from below...Upon pulling it up we deiscovered my missing rod and reel. Next cast I pulled up my Burley bucket....All were o.k...except the reel which has never been the same since due to saltwater contamination but I was more than happy to get the rod back. (true story..cross my heart).

Keep fishing in the same spot and you may get it back.

gee loco maybe you should try losing some of ya own gear and see how you feel, i know peter from a previous trip than an M&G he is a nice guy an was devastated by his loss, and i cant blame him, but then you are not personally into the insignia of ausfish and havent met most of the guys so i guess you wouldnt understand, but being a welfare worker if you need someone to talk to give me a buzz i will put you onto someone more understanding then me

Interesting bottom there - one half is beautiful sand - the other is very shelly and gritty.

Did manage to find one broken rod and a couple of interesting bottles but with 1-2 metres of visability it was hard to see things out of arms reach - just like those couple of rays that scared the **** out of me.

If you are still after the Stradic you can save a bit of maoney on www.ebay.com and bid for them when they come up. Work out your highest price and add approx US 28 for postage.

I got mine for approx Aus 180 all up incl postage (stradic 6000) and they retail for at least 350 here.
