    New Line for New Penn

    HI all,
Does anyone have any input re 50lb Platypus Super Braid? Going to use it to tow lures first up then to the bottom (100M+) at snapper time.
Iffn ya hate > > >the stuff then PM me.

I've been using it for over 3 years now and haven't had any problems at all. Haven't used it for trolling though.

    cheers, Clutter

Ive been using super braid for a few years on all sorts of applications, and found no probs for either trolling or bottom bashing. Use a mono trace for bottom work for extra abrasion resistance and so it is less visible. The stuff works a treat.
As with all lines store out of direct sunlight.

Been told to watch your drag set when trolling with braid unless you like broken rods.(no stretch)
Just wish something big would latch on so I can put the theory to the test.
    Cheers Kev.

Mate if you are only going to spool it with braide you better get about three kilometers of the stuff for that reel.

Re: New Line for New Penn

like reel hard said set your drag a bit lighter for trolling or you will find your self pulling the hooks soon after hook up because of the lack of "give" in the braid.

Suffix have released a new mono leader called Braid buddy. Havent tried it yet but the stuff is like a bungy cord. Should make a good shock leader for trolling.

Re: New Line for New Penn

the only problem that i have found with using braid trolling and it is all that i use is you have to make sure you set the drag right to much and you will just pull hooks.

Thank you all for the advice. Got a big box of new lures in from the US today & will try to put it all together on the weekend around Hutchies or nearby. Weather permitting.

Re: New Line for New Penn

iv used braid only for the last couple of years i just use a wind on leader when trolling just use some Vanish or jinki theres enough stretch in that to soften the first strike.
uni knot from braid to leader strong and simple, like me [smiley=speechless.gif] [smiley=speechless.gif] [smiley=speechless.gif]
then you gota hang on just like the little cartoon to the left
    <<<<
    then it realy gets ughly
