    Marker Buoy's

    hi Ausfish.
Looking at making some homemade marker buoys to drop over the side as we find structure/snags and fish whilst trolling or casting..Has anyone got any ideas??
    regards george.

We use a crab pot float with a 155mm handline spool siliconed to the bottom of it. Wrap some heavy line around the spool, a few meters more than the average depth of water you fish in. Make sure you tie it firmly to the spool first. Usually a number 8 snapper lead is enough on the bottom end. You can also stick a peice of electrical conduit in the hole of the pot float silicone it in place and jamb a 8 or 10 ball sinker in the bottom so the conduit stands upright, and put a small flag or piece of orange plastic on it for better visibility in rough water. When you throw it over the side, the sinker will just unravel the line on its own.
    Too easy! Agnes
